Visualise Your Thesis International Awards For 2022 Announced

MPhil candidate with The University of Queensland, Drew Min Su Cylinder, who was named winner of the Visualise Your Thesis International Awards for 2022.

MPhil candidate with The University of Queensland Drew Min Su Cylinder has edged out a diverse and highly credentialed international field to be named winner of the Visualise Your Thesis International Awards for 2022.

Drew won the competition with his entry ‘Neural Correlates of Behavioural Changes During Propofol General Anaesthesia in Caenorhabditis Elegans‘.

Visualise Your Thesis (VYT) is an international competition challenging graduate researchers to present their research in a 60-second audio-visual explainer. The competition aims to provide an opportunity for universities from across the world to showcase their graduate research. It also helps competitors build essential information and digital literacy skills to effectively communicate complex research to a general audience.

The forth iteration of the VYT international competition saw 22 institutions competing against one another. Each entrant had won their way into the final via their respective local competition, organised by a diverse range of national and international universities.

The Visualise Your Thesis International Awards for 2022 were held on Wednesday, October 19th at the eResearch Australasia Conference. The winners and placegetters included:

Entry for the VYT competition is open to currently-enrolled PhD, MPhil, and Professional Doctorate (Research) candidates. It is suitable for all disciplines and for students at any stage of their candidature.

Judges for the 2022 competition included: Dr Katy Peplin, Dr Eva Méndez, and Cr. Davydd Griffiths, as well as VYT International sponsor Figshare who supported the Trending on VYT prize. 

The Visualise Your Thesis International 2022 competition was coordinated and run by Ellen O’Hehir, Karma Clarke, Rebecca Joyce, and Eleanor Colla (of The University of Melbourne Library).
