2022 ACGR Award for Excellence in Graduate Research Leadership

Dr Dani Milos of Flinders University was announced as the winner of the 2022 ACGR Award for Excellence in Graduate Research Leadership.

The Graduate Research Leadership Award is conferred to an individual in a research training leadership role who demonstrates inspirational and effective local graduate research leadership at a School, Faculty or other academic unit level.

The ACGR judging panel noted Dr Dani Milos’s exceptional leadership and advocacy for high-quality graduate research teaching, learning and mentoring.

As the HDR Education Coordinator in the Office of Graduate Research, Dr Milos’s innovative leadership and significant contribution has helped Flinders University build one of the most successful graduate research education programs in Australia.

Her stewardship of many successful teaching, learning, mentoring, and peer support programs has made an enormous difference to the candidature, progression, and wellbeing of graduate researchers at Flinders.

Dr Milos is well-known for providing exceptional support and guidance for HDR supervisors and has established numerous programs and system changes to enable skill development.

Dr Milos’s dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic was also noted by the ACGR judging panel. Over the past two years she has worked tirelessly to keep HDR students, staff and supervisors engaged and connected to the Flinders community.

The strategic and innovative contributions made by Dr Milos has helped develop and strengthen institutional and local HDR strategy and policies. Her significant contribution was deemed to have helped enable a strong and supportive intellectual community for HDR students, supervisors and programs.

Special commendations were announced for Associate Professor Maria Markoulli of UNSW and Associate Professor Samantha Richardson of RMIT University.
