Welcome to the September edition of our ACGR Monthly Member Update.
As we move into the final months of 2026, there is plenty happening across the graduate research sector. We are pleased to share a range of opportunities, sector updates and resources, including registrations for our upcoming National Member Meeting and the 2026 Graduate Research Leadership Program.
We are particularly looking forward to welcoming members to the ACGR National Meeting 2, to be held at The University of Queensland on 4–5 November. The meeting provides an important opportunity for colleagues from across the sector to connect, share practice and engage in conversations about the future of graduate research education. We encourage members to register and join us for what promises to be a valuable and engaging program.
Registrations are also now open for the 2026 ACGR Graduate Research Leadership Program. This program continues ACGR’s commitment to supporting the development of current and emerging leaders across the graduate research sector, providing participants with opportunities to strengthen their leadership capability, build networks and share experiences with colleagues from across Australia.
This month also brings a number of important developments in graduate research policy and practice. ACGR has contributed to recent ATEC consultations on research security and national security expectations and research specialisation and the requirements for the Australian University Category. These responses reflect ACGR’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that the distinctive role and contribution of graduate research are appropriately recognised within the higher education regulatory and policy environment.
We are also delighted to celebrate the 2026 ACGR Awards for Excellence winners. The Awards provide an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contributions being made across our sector, and we extend our warm congratulations to all of this year’s recipients and finalists.
