ACGR October Update

Dear colleagues,

It is always a pleasure to see the ACGR community come together, and we are particularly looking forward to reconnecting with members at our ACGR National Meeting 2 at The University of Queensland on 4–5 November. The program brings together an excellent range of speakers and perspectives, including a virtual keynote from Professor Barney Glover, ATEC Chief Commissioner,  Professor Mary O’Kane, Chancellor of the University of Queensland, and Luke Sheehy, CEO of Universities Australia. We encourage members to explore the program and register to join us for what promises to be a valuable opportunity for connection, discussion and sector-wide exchange.

Registrations are also now open for the 2026 ACGR Graduate Research Leadership Program, providing an opportunity for graduate research leaders to further develop their leadership capability, strengthen professional networks and engage with contemporary issues shaping the sector.

In this month’s update, we also highlight several important sector resources and developments, including the upcoming TEQSA Talks webinar on implementation of the amended Threshold Standards and the Australian Research Council’s ARC Strategy 2026–2035. We hope these resources will support members in keeping informed about the broader policy and regulatory environment affecting graduate research.

Thank you, as always, for your continued engagement with ACGR. We look forward to connecting with many of you at our upcoming events.

Best regards,

Louise Sharpe, ACGR President
Tracy Sullivan, Executive Director
