Virginia Slaughter

Virginia is Dean of the Graduate Research School at the University of Queensland, where she oversees Higher Degree by Research programs for 4500 students across all research disciplines at the university. She was appointed Dean in October 2023 after serving as Head of the School of Psychology for over 10 years. A developmental psychologist by training, Virginia’s own research focuses on social-cognitive development in infants and young children, particularly the acquisition of imitation, mindreading and peer interaction skills. She is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and Fellow of the international Association for Psychological Science. Virginia was elected to the ACGR Executive Committee in 2026.
