ACGR Update October 2025

Dear colleagues,

We hope our October Member Update finds you all well. It seems as though time speeds up as we hurtle towards the end of the year

We have the Graduate Research Leadership Program  fast approaching on October 23rd 24th. Places are limited so please ensure you and your colleagues are registered.

The 2024-2025 National Meeting will be held online on November 13th and 14th. We have been working to create a program to stimulate meaningful discussions and strengthen networks among peers and are pleased to be sharing this with you in this update.

The 2024 – 2025 ACGR AGM will be held on November 13th as part of the National Meeting, including elections for the 2026/27 Executive Committee. Nominations for these elections are now open and primary representatives of full member institutions have been sent forms and details. Please do consider how you (or one of our ACGR colleagues) may be able to contribute to the important work of our Executive Committee.

On the advocacy front ACGR President, Professor Louise Sharpe joined sector leaders in a roundtable discussion on the SERD Issues Paper: Building purpose and possibility in foundational research hosted by the Strategic Examination of R&D Panel. The ACGR harnessed this opportunity to continue calling for an increase RTP Stipend funding to support the development of a healthy pipeline of high quality Australian researchers, and to call attention to the ongoing industry engagement efforts presently being undertaken across the sector.

We look forward to seeing you at one of the upcoming ACGR events and wish you well as you navigate this busy time of year.

Best regards,

Louise Sharpe, ACGR President
Tracy Sullivan, Executive Director
