Dear colleagues,
In our September update we are pleased to launch the program for our November National Meeting. We are delighted to announce that Professor Mary O’Kane, Interim Commissioner of the Australian Tertiary Education Council (ATEC) will join us as keynote speaker, bringing her deep expertise and insights to what promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking session. In addition, you can now access the full program for the Graduate Research Leadership Program, registrations are now unlimited for member institutions so we encourage you to register now as overall places are limited.
It has been a busy time across the sector marked by several significant developments. One was the release of the Strategic Examination of Research and Development (SERD) issues papers, inviting us to reflect on future directions for R&D system reform and sectoral priorities.
At the same time, the Government’s announcement of a review into TEQSA’s regulatory powers has added further food for thought.
Adding to this, Universities Australia has confirmed it will undertake the next iteration of the National Student Safety Survey (NSSS) in 2026, reinforcing the sector’s commitment to student wellbeing and continuous improvement. ACGR will continue to support members and advocate for the graduate research community as these initiatives further unfold.
We look forward to connecting with you throughout the month and welcoming you to our Graduate Research Leadership program which is just around the corner in October.
Best regards, Louise Sharpe, ACGR President
Tracy Sullivan, Executive Director
