Dear colleagues,
As we move into the second half of 2025 there is plenty happening (and still to come!) this year at ACGR.
In this month’s update we open registrations for two of our signature events. You can now register for our second ACGR National Meeting for 2025; it’s scheduled to take place online on November 13 & 14. Plus, we have our annual Graduate Research Leadership Program on October 23rd and 24th. We are happy this year to offer unlimited registrations per institution for our Graduate Research Leadership Program, however, please note that there is an event cap so you should register now to secure a spot.
There’s plenty of other news this month. In support of ACGR’s ongoing advocacy efforts to make a difference to the reputation of graduate research in Australia we welcomed the release of the Universities Australia Fragmented to Future Ready: The Next Generation of Researchers report.
Reiterating the joint recommendations of both ACGR and Universities Australia in the Investing in PhD Candidates in Australia paper released earlier in the year, this report champions the fundamental role of the PhD in training the next generation of researchers needed to meet the complex challenges we face as a society now and into the future. Aligned to this work, we look forward to updating you on the progress of our Industry Engagement Sector Snapshot in a future update – it’s another piece of key advocacy work that aims to support the sector.
ACGR’s strength is borne from the commitment of our members to continuously engage in conversation, contribute to advocacy initiatives and participate in ACGR events, so we thank you for your ongoing and diligent support.
It’s due to your continued dedication to growing the graduate research community that we have a lot of good work to share with you in the coming months.
Best regards,
Louise Sharpe, ACGR President
Tracy Sullivan, Executive Director
