SUMMARY:ACGR Webinar 7/2024 - Supervising Indigenous research and Indigenous higher degree researchers
DESCRIPTION:The growing pipeline of Indigenous doctoral students is at a pivotal juncture\, with the opportunity for Indigenous researchers to significantly enhance both academic knowledge and community-based research capabilities. As an academic workforce\, Indigenous researchers offer the potential to create positive change within Indigenous communities while also enriching the broader academic landscape. However\, many universities and advisors remain uncertain as to how to effectively educate a new generation of Indigenous researchers within postgraduate research training programs. In this panel discussion\, experienced advisors of Indigenous research students and Indigenous research projects will share their understandings of how to grow both student and advisor capabilities\, and demonstrate how JCU’s Indigenous Education and Research Centre has been conceptualising the support of Indigenous higher degree researchers \n\n\n\nPresenters  \n\n\n\nProfessor Martin Nakata (Deputy Vice Chancellor\, Indigenous Education & Strategy\, James Cook University)Associate Professor Sana Nakata (Head of Research\, Indigenous Education and Research Centre\, James Cook University)Dr Ailie McDowall (Senior Lecturer and HDR Convenor\, Indigenous Education and Research Centre\, James Cook University) \n\n\n\nView the recording and slides on the members section of the website.
