SUMMARY:ACGR Webinar 5/2025 - Research impact in the research training context: insight from a tailored program for graduate researchers
DESCRIPTION:A presentation by Cruxes Innovation and the La Trobe University Research Education and Development (RED) Team.Presenters: \n\n\n\n\nJonathan Lacey (Cruxes Innovation)\n\n\n\nEmily Chang (Cruxes Innovation)\n\n\n\nMeagan Tyler (RED Team\, La Trobe University)\n\n\n\nCally Guerin (RED Team\, La Trobe University)\n\n\n\nKatherine Firth (RED Team\, La Trobe University)\n\n\n\nDan Bendrups (PVC Graduate Research\, La Trobe University)\n\n\n\n\nThe impact of university research is an urgent strategic priority in Australia\, and impact is central to the ARC’s planning for a future national research evaluation process in which in-depth reporting of impact stories is likely to feature. University researchers are inducted into impact conversations by their respective institutional leadership and research management teams\, but where does this leave graduate researchers? Despite the contribution they make to university research impact outcomes\, graduate researchers may not receive the same inductions as research staff\, and may not always know how to demonstrate their impact\, or why they should aim to do so. \n\n\n\nThis webinar offers insights from a program of development workshops and resources co-developed between La Trobe University and Cruxes Innovation designed to help graduate researchers understand the impact of their work. It explains our approach to linking impact to other discourses\, especially discussions around post-HDR careers. The presentation includes both university and industry presenters\, and invites interaction with peers to share questions about\, or approaches to\, developing an understanding of impact amongst graduate researchers. \n\n\n\n\nCruxes Innovation link: https://www.cruxesinnovation.com/\n\n\n\nRED Team link: https://www.latrobe.edu.au/research/red
