SUMMARY:ACGR Webinar 5/2024 - Equal Access to HDR
DESCRIPTION:Developing an admission equivalence framework\n\n\n\nThe creation of diverse entry pathways to HDR programs supports the growth of underrepresented groups\, as well as those embedded in industry who are seeking to upskill. A shift towards competency-based approaches to assessing HDR program admission eligibility over academic qualifications is one approach to diversify entry pathways\, aiming to increase access and opportunity.  \n\n\n\nIn 2023 Griffith University created a framework to evidence the research competencies of HDR applicants based on the knowledge\, skills and capabilities that may be assessed as equivalent\, aligned to the AQF Qualification Learning Outcomes.  This approach improved access to applicants who do not hold the requisite qualification\, such as applicants with a disability for example\, whose circumstances have impacted their educational outcomes but are able to evidence alternate research preparedness. \n\n\n\nPresented by the Griffith Graduate Research School team\, this webinar will outline how this equivalence framework model works at Griffith University\, and the successes\, challenges and insights gleaned. \n\n\n\nAs an outcome of this webinar attendees will also be invited to participate in a HDR admission equivalency Community of Practice (CoP)  for staff who are engaged in this space and wish to share sector insights\, and work towards best practice approaches.  \n\n\n\nView the recording on the members section of the website.
